Update

Sorry it has been so long since the last update. We are not in the new
house yet. Our stuff is waiting in the garage for us. We are waiting
to get the certificate of occupancy/ final inspection before we can
officially move in.

The missionary couple we were house sitting for came home on Friday.
We are officially homeless. Dad has been kind enough to let us stay in
the gallery until we get the C.O. We have enough food and clothes to
last two weeks. Hopefully everything will be good to go by the middle
of next week.

In the meantime Lori and I have been brainstorming ideas for furniture
placement and such. The picture above is of the planned screen size. It is a
wider screen than normal to accommodate films shot in CinemaScope
format. The normal 1:78:1 (16:9) format screen size is 110" diagonal
and the 2:35:1 diagonal screen size is 138" while maintaining a
constant image height between the two of 54". That size gives a
subtended horizontal viewing angle of over 30 degrees at the viewing
position. Perfect.

Shower in the m. bath. Shower is about 5' square-ish. There is sufficient room to swing a cat in there and/ or sit three people.

Laundry room with a cat5 jack under the cabinets for a central wireless access point. Note floor drain and under-counter storage for kitty litter, mismatched socks, conga drums or large munitions; whichever suits your lifestyle.

House update etc...

The stucco is done. The color looks lame in these pictures, but in person it looks great.

The cabinets are in, the power is turned on , the main wood floor is done, most of the light fixtures are up, the sinks and faucets are put together and the tile countertops in the bathrooms and laundry room are ready to grout. The kitchen granite tile countertop layout is underway. We decided against black granite tiles and went with a silver/gray/red granite instead. It was only $3.40/square foot or something.

I didn't have the right camera to take pictures of the inside, and I don't have the right camera, so those pictures will have to wait until tomorrow.

The other day we had torrential rain flood the basement with 1.5" of water. The painted baseboard for the whole house was floating on water and the cabinets got wet, but we managed to get everything under control before too much damage was done.

Lori has started packing already. The Simkin's are coming home a week early, so we have to be outta here by the 25th so we are scrambling. We probably won't be able to get a certificate of occupancy by the 25th, so we will probably live in the gallery or something. Fun times ahead! Oh, and we have two family reunions this week so if you want to come help, just show up. We'll feed you a snack even.

We had to make a video for one of the family reunions. It had to be from a family history story. We picked a story with two girls, some cows a stick, and lunch time. It is a stop-action movie with poor lighting and little preparation. 1839 photos later, this is what we ended up with:
