For the 4th I invited the Murset family to White Rocks to have a camp out and fun. We stayed over night Friday. So technically we celebrated on the 3rd, but that's ok. (I'm not very traditional and it was close to the 4th of July.) So I made dinner, we had dutch oven chicken and potatoes, corn on the cob, rolls, fruit salad, and .... homemade ROOT BEER. Yummy!!! The dinner was great. Thanks Melissa, Maria, and Carolyn for helping bring food. Then we had a very short program about the flag, then went on to the pinata and fireworks.
For Maria's Wedding Aunt Susan came and helped decorate her cake. She was nice enough to give me a lesson. So this is my first attempt at making and decorating a cake. It actually went relatively well, until I tried to cut the one cake I made in half to make it a layered cake. Never do that, just make another cake to put on top! Well, I put it all back together, but the sad thing is that I forgot to bring it out with me! And we haven't eaten it yet, so if anyone wants some cake, come on over.
This is the pinata I made for the 4th of July. It is suppose to be a star if you can't tell. That was really fun to make too. Surprisingly easy, but it take a long time in between steps. The kids had fun hitting it as you will see below.
Meg was too strong and knocked it off the rope! Hattie started crying. Then she started crying afterwards when everyone hit it again.
I took a whack at it and broke it. That was fun to make and break it. I put a lot of candy in there for just our family, but it was fun. Kevin said in the morning he found candy out in the weeds.
It still looks good even though it's been busted.
This is a slow shutter picture (I think) that Kevin took of the fireworks. I think that Mark had lit some and them threw them.
In the morning we had cereal, doughnuts, oatmeal, orange juice, and orange rolls. The breakfast of champions, oh and candy. We road four wheelers and played a game of Yahtzee and then Uncle Bill, Aunt Debbie, and their kids, and their kids stopped by on their way home to Arizona. It was really nice to see them, and it was really nice of them to stop by. I hope your 4th of July was just as fun.

That cake is awesome!! So sorry it spent the weekend on your counter at home instead of with us. You put on quite the party anyway!
Your time lapse came out way better than mine. The cake did too, actually. It's okay. I'm glad we are friends, because the coolness rubs off on us, right?
